‘There’s a lot of shit talked about photography, but you go out, take a photo of something you like, if you enjoy that image then it’s a good photo. It’s really that simple’ 

I wrote that when I first started this blog, and five years later it’s a statement I still stand by, even more so now. This is the last in the ‘The things I saw (Tokyo)’ series, I love every single shot, but I’ve saved my personal favourites until the end…

All the images here were made using my trusty Olympus MjuII 35mm compact and various film (Fuji Superia 400/800 and Kodak Gold 400, mainly). Processed and scanned at UK Film Lab.2 3 14 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 1719 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27

    I think the amount of followers you have here and on Facebook is a testament to the popularity of your work. As you’ve said in the past – if everyone liked the same thing, the world would be a very boring place. I love your work, Phil X

  3. I lived in Tokyo and Yokohama a few years back, I saw a lot of street photography, but never anything like these. You have shown me a side of Japan I never saw, in a way I never expected. Superb, Phil, just superb.
