M.I.A

It’s been so long since I posted a blog that the entire WordPress format has changed, so I am still trying to figure out how it works. Bear with me. It’s been nearly two years, so if you are still here, thanks for sticking around. Like everyone else on the planet, Covid and the lockdown had a massive effect on my life; it shut down my fishing project overnight and kept me from boarding a fishing vessel for almost three years, to the day.
So, without getting into my life’s saga, I became a baker, a job I was surprisingly good at and enjoyed, but I was working all night and filling my days with sleep and empty beer cans. By the end of 2021, I’d lost all interest in photography, and life…then last Christmas, I met Katy and the rest, as they say…
Okay, in a tiny nutshell – I left the Isle of Man, where I’d lived most of my life, and moved to Sunderland, England, with Katy. I’ve rekindled my passion for photography and life in general. And I’ve started reshooting my fishing industry project.
I’m not going to write anything else, for now, I think it’s probably best to figure out how this ‘new’ WordPress works first.

  1. I have seen your images on Twitter and think they are wonderful, documenting an industry that has been through drastic changes and, from what I have been led to believe, may not exist in the near future.

I am so happy that you have overcome your challenges, and wish you and Katy well. I will be following the project, and your blog, in the future.

  2. Welcome back Phill. You’ve always been an inspiration to me. Even though we photograph different things, your simple and intuitive style of crafting an image is something to appreciate. Looking forward to future posts from you!

  3. You ran into a lot of the same things most of us did. I’m glad you’re back. I cannot think of one person likes this new block system. WordPress swears by it. Whatever you do don’t use the system that makes simultaneous changes on every page. Be aware that WordPress makes little tweeks almost every every week and say nothing about them. Good luck.

      1. I know. Join the rest of us. There is a way to use the classic system. Go to the pulldown that features all the blocks. You’ll find one that says classic. Click on that and you should be good.

  7. Glad to see you here again Phil. I connected to you via FB, so followed your cycling trip during the covid period. (+or-). But I missed your weekly (less or more) WP blog posts with amazing photography, no matter film or digital. Hope to see more of your photo stories.
